Three Key Components of Successful Advisory Councils
Monthly Council Meetings
Benjamin Franklin surrounded himself with peers form different backgrounds to constantly improve and solve hard problems. So do successful business owners.
One-on-One Mentoring
From Oprah to Churchill, great leaders know the importance of having a mentor. We don’t know what we don’t know, and a strong mentor will help ask questions you haven’t even thought of yet.
Expert Speakers
Stephen Covey called it “sharpening the saw”. Occasionally having subject matter experts explain new concepts and ideas, with more depth and clarity, is extremely valuable.
Eligibility / Who Are Council Members
Council Members are individuals who are the majority shareholders, and/or are business owners with the primarily responsibility for operating their companies. In other words, they are on the hook for EVERYTHING when it comes to success or failure. Typically the size of these businesses are between $3M in revenue and $50M in revenue. The owners are usually personally financing or personally guaranteeing operating capital for the business. Council Members are high-integrity individuals with strong regard for their peers/other business owners. They have a genuine interest in learning from one another and in helping their peers continuously improve and growth their businesses.
